Beyond Diagnosis: Empowering Parents Navigating Metastatic Breast Cancer

MBCure and Triage Cancer understand that cancer affects every part of life. Parents often have to manage appointments, insurance paperwork, employment responsibilities, household needs, and more all while caring for their children.

To help address these challenges, Triage Cancer is partnering with the Bright Spot Network to offer free education, practical tools, and individualized support for parents navigating metastatic breast cancer.

This wrap-around program is designed to help parents feel more prepared, informed, and connected.

Webinar Series

Parents can participate in live, online workshops designed to provide realistic and practical strategies:

  • Parenting with Metastatic Breast Cancer
    June 9 at 12-1pm PT CT
  • Navigating the Practical Issues of Metastatic Breast Cancer: Insurance, Work, & Finances 
    July 14 at 12-1:30pm PT CT
  • Supporting Caregivers Through Metastatic Breast Cancer 
    August 18 at 12-1:30pm PT CT
  • Legacy Work: Advance & Estate Planning and Meaningful End-of-Life Projects for Parents with Metastatic Breast Cancer
    September 15 at 12-1:30pm PT CT

Each session offers actionable information parents can apply right away. These webinars are geared towards parents but caregivers, nurses, social workers and patient advocates may also receive free continuing education credit for attending.

Triage Cancer’s Practical Guides help individuals and families navigate the legal and financial issues that often arise after a cancer diagnosis. Bright Box and Bright Reads

When you are navigating cancer, you may wish you had the time and energy to help your kids learn, have fun, and connect. Through these programs, caregivers can receive two free books, The Invisible String and Tiny Boat at Sea, along with three free art projects from Bright Spot Network, designed especially for children of families facing cancer.

Legal & Financial Navigation Program

Through this project, parents navigating metastatic breast cancer can access Triage Cancer’s Legal & Financial Navigation (LFN) Program. This free, one-on-one service helps caregivers better understand:

  • Health insurance options and navigation
  • Managing medical bills
  • Employment rights and benefits
  • Disability insurance options
  • Estate planning considerations

Parents may also be connected to a free Certified Financial Planner through the LFN Program.

Bright Spot Network’s Family Resource Navigation

Navigating a cancer diagnosis and treatment can feel overwhelming. Bright Spot Network’s Family Resource Navigation is here to help you identify support systems, resources, and coping strategies that will empower you and your whole family.

Family Resource Navigation includes:

  • Organizing your support system
  • Connecting you to valuable national and regional resources
  • Helping to make a plan for talking with your medical team about treatment decisions
  • Coaching on how to talk to your kids about a cancer diagnosis, treatment, or metastatic disease
  • Identifying coping techniques to decrease stress
